Stephen McDonough is a trainee at the Center for Creative Growth, under the supervision of the licensed MFT supervisory team at the Center. He is a graduate student in the Integral Counseling Psychology program at California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. Steve had previously worked in the fields of molecular biology and biochemistry for over 20 years. After undergoing deep personal soul-searching and experiencing the personal growth and freedom that can result from such inner work, he decided to realize a life-long dream of becoming a psychotherapist. Steve strongly believes in the healing power of compassion for oneself and the potential for spirituality to help foster that compassion. He is interested in working with the full range of issues that people bring to therapy, and has special interest in working with addictions and supporting 12-step recovery work.
What Steve Says About Being A Therapist
“I believe that our innate drives toward health, growth and freedom are stronger than any obstacles that stand in our way, no matter how intimidating those obstacles may appear. Therapy, at its finest, can help us to overcome these obstacles and free our highest potentials and dreams.”
